Dan Griffiths, CPA, CGMA is a partner at Tanner, LLC, a Salt Lake City-based CPA firm with 130 team members. Dan is a business coach and consultant and facilitates over 75 leadership retreats each year across a variety of industries. He specializes in working with organizations that find themselves at a strategic inflection point which often include ownership succession events, start-ups, growth companies, mergers, and restructuring projects. He is certified through the Business Learning Institute in strategic planning and leadership development. Prior to consulting, Dan spent four years as the CFO for Proficio Management, a small private equity and investment management firm. In 2011, he was recognized by the Utah Association of CPAs as the Outstanding CPA in Business and Management. He began his career in public accounting as an auditor with Squire & Company and later Tanner LLC in Salt Lake City. Dan is a graduate of the 2010 AICPA Leadership Academy and in 2011-2012 served as the chair of the Young CPA Network Committee for the AICPA. He has since been very active in promoting and facilitating leadership programs for CPAs around the country. He previously served as Utah’s elected member of the AICPA Governing Council. In 2015, he received the AICPA Outstanding Young CPA award that each year recognizes one CPA under the age of 40 for their contributions to the CPA profession. Also in 2015, Utah Business Magazine recognized Dan in their “Forty Under 40” awards program honoring young Utah business leaders. In 2016, he was nominated to serve on the AICPA Board of Directors where he currently serves. Dan is active in government and has worked closely with the Utah Association of CPAs to launch, Financial Ready Utah, a non-profit organized to promote fiscal responsibility. He currently serves on a state legislative commission focused on fiscal issues. In 2013, Governor Herbert appointed him to serve on the Utah State Board of Education. He holds B.S. and Masters of Accountancy degrees from Brigham Young University, summa cum laude and with high distinction, respectively. Dan is an avid flyfisher, backpacker, and gardener. He and his wife Bibiana are the proud parents of four children.
