The manual confirmation process makes it possible for fraud to go undetected. With manual confirmations, you simply can't guarantee the reliability of the information you receive from responders. The information provided in the confirmation may not be from an authentic source. The person responding to the confirmation may not be knowledgeable about the information being confirmed.
